Here in Dublin City Schools, we know that “striving towards common student-focused goals unities diverse people.” Bringing this goal to life, the Fighting Irish Family recently joined forces with districts across the state to support the Georgia Schools Care Initiative. The collective effort raised funds to support students with less access as we worked to ensure that every child in the Georgia foster care system received a Christmas gift this past holiday season.
“Every child should be able to open up a gift on Christmas Morning, regardless of where they live and their socioeconomic status,” said Stephanie Stubbs, Dublin City Schools’ District Health, Safety and McKinney-Vento Coordinator. “In DCS, we do currently have students that live in foster-care settings. We were excited to partner with the state to ensure every child is honored and seen.”
Every school across Dublin City and the Central Office was recognized by the Georgia Department of Education for contributing to this worthy cause.
- Dublin High School, Bronze Star Distinction: This designation was reserved for any level of participation based on a minimum $1 donation by students and staff.
- Dublin Middle School, Bronze Star Distinction

- Central Office, Diamond Star Distinction: This designation was reserved for participation above 100%, based on a minimum $1 donation by staff.
As a district, Dublin City Schools students and staff members raised $952.84 of the state’s overall $43,600 collected for this worthy cause.
"I sincerely appreciate every student, staff, educator, and community member who contributed to this worthy cause," said Georgia’s School Superintendent Richard Words. "This initiative was designed to provide all within education the opportunity to make an impact on those around us. It was an opportunity for us as an educational family to give hope, add value to those in need, and allow us to make a genuine difference in the lives of others. Even though the personal sacrifice may seem small, the collective efforts of all were substantial."
