Gone are the days of applying the term “college and career readiness” solely to high school juniors and seniors. Here in Dublin City Schools, it’s who we are and what we believe—from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
In fact, after taking the YouScience Aptitude Test, which matches students’ interests and natural abilities with high-demand career pathways, Dublin Middle Schoolers eager to learn more about technical careers had the opportunity to visit Wild Bore Plant Services.
While touring the manufacturing site, students were able to see real-world technical careers in action including:
CNC Machining,
Laser Cutting,
Press & Drill Operations, as well as,
Welding.
Students also received a firsthand look at how precision, teamwork, and problem-solving are essential in the workplace before meeting with Wild Bore’s Plant Manager, Vic Cooper, who emphasized the growing demand for skilled workers and the importance of math in technical fields.
This trip was an eye-opening experience for our students, giving them a firsthand look at careers in skilled trades. We’re excited to see how this experience shapes their futures, especially as they have the opportunity to pursue careers in pathways like Welding, Mechatronics, and the Accelerated Career Diploma Program through the Dublin City Schools College and Career Academy —starting as early as 9th Grade
