Kenny Walters, Super District 1

Kenny Walters brings more than five decades of leadership, advocacy, and public service to his role as a member of the City of Dublin Board of Education. A lifelong advocate for fairness, education, and community empowerment, Kenny has dedicated his career to representing working families and strengthening local institutions.
With over 50 years of union experience as an officer, Kenny has developed deep expertise in labor relations, negotiations, and organizational leadership. He is certified in Labor Law and Arbitration through the United Steelworkers International Union and has extensive experience handling grievances and arbitrations. Throughout his union career, he has served in numerous leadership roles, including Chairman/Guide of USW Local 9-237-01 in McIntyre, Georgia; Vice-President of District 5 Council of Georgia (2000–2006), where he presided over statewide meetings; President at Large for District 5 Council of UPIU in Birmingham, Alabama; and Committeeman at the Engelhard Corp./BASF Daveyville Plant in McIntyre for nearly two decades. He also served as Safety Facilitator, implementing a Behavior-Based Safety Process to improve workplace safety and accountability.
Kenny’s commitment to education and human development is reflected in his academic achievements. He earned a Master of Science in Counseling in 2000 and a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, with a minor in Counseling, in 1997 from Ashford University. He also completed Behavioral Safety Training with Engelhard Corporation and studied Bookkeeping and Accounting at Savannah Technical College.
His dedication to community service spans decades. Kenny served two terms as a City Councilman in Dublin, Georgia (1987–1991) and was a Board Member of the Heart of Georgia Community Action Agency from 1974 to 1996. He has been actively involved with Dublin-Laurens County Concerned Citizens Education Reform, the Dublin-Laurens County Jaycees, and served as Past President of the Dublin-Laurens County Black Festival Committee. He currently serves as President of the Dublin-Laurens County NAACP, continuing his lifelong advocacy for equity and opportunity.
Kenny’s service and leadership have been widely recognized. He is a recipient of the Golden Shamrock Award from the City of Dublin and was named Man of the Year / Senior Citizen of the Year in 2025.
As a current member of the City of Dublin Board of Education, Kenny Walters brings a strong voice for students, families, and employees. His background in counseling, labor relations, fiscal oversight, and public service equips him to advocate for policies that promote fairness, accountability, and educational excellence for all children in the community.
